Ford Sponsors $150,000 Grand Prix at Indio Desert Circuit for Fourth Consecutive Year

SAUGERTIES, NY (January 16, 2003)--Horse Shows In The Sun (HITS) is pleased to announce that Ford Motor Company is the Official Vehicle for the 2003 Indio Desert Circuit and the title sponsor of the $150,000 Ford Grand Prix for the fourth consecutive year.

Not only is the $150,000 Ford Grand Prix the largest single purse awarded at the Indio Desert Circuit, but it is also the last World Cup qualifying event for the West Coast and will decide which three riders from the West Coast League will compete in Las Vegas, Nevada. With so much at stake, the air runs electric in the Grand Prix Field for this event, and it always lives up to the excitement level everyone has come to expect.

Ford will have a full range of trucks on display around the HITS Desert Horse Park show grounds and qualified truck specialists at the Ford booth to answer questions. Rome Murphy, Ford Division's E-Commerce/Marketing Manager, says he is pleased with the response the sponsorship has generated for Ford. "We've got a product that meets the needs of all the participants and exhibitors at the equestrian events at the Indio horse show," said Mr. Murphy. "It's a win-win for us and for anybody who comes by to check out our booth and our products."

Mr. Murphy said that the most frequently asked question at the Ford booth pertained to the towing capabilities of our vehicles. "Some of the competitive products that they've had in the past have not met their needs." The second concern most exhibitors had was comfort. "Our interiors are designed for comfort and functionality."

In 2003 at Indio, Ford has a refreshed line of Super Duty trucks available with the introduction of the new 6.0 liter diesel engine. "We're always upgrading our product to meet the ever-increasing demand of the consumers," said Murphy. "Their vehicle needs become more and more demanding every year, so we've got to be there to make sure we meet those needs."

Ford Grand Prix Jump
The $150,000 Ford Grand Prix will take place on Sunday, March 9th, at 2 pm in the Grand Prix Field of the HITS Desert Horse Park show grounds.

HITS is the largest producer of hunter/jumper horse shows in the U.S., operating five show grounds nationwide-the Indio Desert Circuit in California; Ocala Winter Circuit in Florida; Arizona Winter Circuit in Tucson; HITS Culpeper in Virginia; and HITS Catskills in New York. In the fall of 2003, HITS will introduce the New Marshall & Sterling League National Indoor Finals to be held at Worcester's Centrum Centre, Worcester, Massachusetts.
