Top Dressage Judges to Attend Forum Hosted by Bethany Peslar

Wellington, Florida – February 27, 2003 – If you haven’t already registered for The Dressage Judges’ Forum being hosted by Bethany Peslar at her Everglades Dressage farm complex in Wellington next week, you’ll unfortunately be missing out on one of the season’s premier dressage events.

The over-subscribed Forum, held as part of USA Equestrian’s Continuing Education Program, filled up early-on with the maximum 160 attendees. The Forum will be closed to auditors and/or spectators. All USA Equestrian-licensed dressage judges and eventing judges are required to participate in continuing education programs, such as the Forum, from time to time. Given the spectacular facilities of Bethany’s Everglades Dressage, it is no wonder that next week’s Forum is a sell-out.

The Forum’s two panelists will be internationally-renowned judges Hilda Gurney and Mariette Withages from Belgium. Robin Brookman will speak on dressage for disabled riders. Some of the attending judges, top in the dressage community, will include Jane Ayers, Carol Lavell, Suzanne Handler, Linda Zang and Mary Ann McPhail.

The Forum will begin at The Palm Beach Hilton on Wednesday afternoon, March 5th with classroom instruction involving the new dressage tests and rule changes. On Thursday, March 6th the Forum will move to Everglades Dressage for actual dressage demonstrations and follow-up critiques, with the emphasis being on national tests. On Friday, March 7th the group will return to Everglades Dressage for demonstrations involving FEI-international tests.

Bethany Peslar will be one of the select riders demonstrating specific, high-level dressage movements for the judges. Bethany, a 21-year-old Wellington resident, competes with her several horses at the upper Prix St. Georges and Grand Prix levels. Bethany recently won the FEI Prix St. Georges Class aboard “Flinstone” at Dressage at The National, outscoring many seasoned professionals. Her sights are currently set on the upcoming Pan Am Games in Santo Domingo.

Thanks to the generosity of Bethany, the Forum’s social agenda includes a private dinner at the Peslar home in The Polo Club on Wednesday evening, catered by Christafaro’s of Palm Beach, and a dinner party for all participants at The Players Club on Thursday evening.

Following Bethany Peslar’s Forum next week, USA Equestrian will head to the west coast to conduct a Forum from March 9th through March 11th at the LA Equestrian Center in Burbank, California.
