HENRI PRUDENT JUMPS AHEAD OF WIFE, KATIE

WELLINGTON, FL - April 7, 2001 - US Equestrian Team Veteran, Katie Prudent rode just before her husband Henri, breaking the earlier pace set by yesterday's victor, Aaron Vale with a clear round and in 62.719 seconds aboard Belladonna, the 18 year-old Dutch bred mare. French Equestrian Veteran, Henri Prudent made up enough time over the 11 obstacle Jose Gamarra of Bolivia designed course to capture the $10,000 Open Speed AGA Championship aboard the 11 year-old Selle Frances mare, Bellone D'Ideale. Henri turned in a fault free ride in a blistering time of 61.031 seconds. The last two to compete in this competition were Henri and Katie, Henri who rode next to last up on Illusion finished in eighth place and Katie rode the 11 year old Oldenburg gelding, Landato in the fastest time of 59.52 seconds, but with one knock down converted to seconds the time became 63.52 seconds for a third place finish. The Prudent family walked with $6,400 of the $10,000 prize money.

The American Grand Prix Show Jumping Championships continue through Sunday at Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club, with show jumping action from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Sunday's highlight is the $300,000 AGA Show Jumping Championship, the richest purse in US Show Jumping History. Grand Prix action starts at 2:00pm.
