Randy Sherman Wins the $10,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Junior Jumper Classic At Vermont Summer Festival Horse Show

East Dorset, VT—July 21, 2002, Randy Sherman on Caldero won the $10,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Junior Jumper Classic, during the Manchester Classic, at the Vermont Summer Festival Horse Show at Harold Beebe Farm, in East Dorset, VT on Sunday.

The junior and amateur-owner classes were held separately on July 21 leaving a field of 11 for the junior division. Derek Braun started things off with a clear round riding Mandella and also had the first clear in the jump-off with a time of 69.546 seconds. Sherman, who went 9th in the order had the third clear of five, putting him right in the middle for the jump-off.

The 12-year-old gelding gave Sherman his second victory for the day. Sherman also won on Copperfield, owned by North Wales Farm in the $5,000 Low Junior/Amateur Owner Classic.

“I am extremely happy to end on such a good note. I am leaving to go back to California tomorrow. It was a very good day.”

The Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series features Junior and Amateur-Owner Classics throughout the year with the finals to take place at the National Horse Show in Wellington, FL, November 27 – December 1, 2002. The Series standings will be to determine the amateur-owner and junior division entries for the finals. The series is provided in part by a grant by the National Horse Sports Foundation. The Vermont Summer Festival New England’s largest “AA” rated hunter-jumper horse show circuit, continues with the Valley Classic, July 24-28, and the Manchester and the Mountains Horse Show, July 31-August 4. The action culminates with the Vermont Summer Celebration, August 7-11.
