Show Jumping Result - IJM Timberframe Grand Prix League - Swail Stretches Lead With Ennis Win

IN a thrilling jump-off at the Co.Clare Grand Prix in Ennis today (Saturday), Co. Down's Conor Swail consolidated his IJM TimberFrame league lead with a narrow win over Capt. Shane Carey.

Both riders had two horses in the five-man jump off, and the recently promoted Captain Carey swept into the lead with <Lismakin>, and also pinned the runner-up spot with <Laughton's Lass>. But Swail, who had a fence down with Drumagoland's Flight in the second round, made no mistake with his other mount <Conduct>, making a classic turn back at fence eight to shave fractions of a second off Carey's time.

Carey therefore dropped to second place with <Lismakin>, and had <Laughton's Lass> in third.

Swail said after his victory today: < It was brilliant, just brilliant. He's such a consistent horse and I am really delighted for him.>

Alan Wade's technical course weeded 46 riders out of the 51 starters on a sunny but breezy day in Ennis, and left five for the jump-off and ten with four faults apiece.

James Kernan slotted <Killybegs Schubert> into fourth, while Steven Smith was the best of the four-faulters, on <Cavailer Rock>.

The win for Swail means his league points jump to 99, but Shane Breen pops up with two horses in the Super League fixture in Ballina tomorrow, as does Harry Marshall, who failed to make today's jump-off, so the Co. Down man may face a strong challenge to his IJM TimberFrame league position.
