News and Updates from Diamond Mountain Stables
Macella O’Neill, Charles White, and Kelli Cox
Calistoga, California 707-942-0719

There’s a lot going on at Diamond Mountain Stables in beautiful Calistoga, at the north end of the Napa Valley. We have been busy this year attending many “A” shows, including the Indio and Tahoe circuits. Owner/trainer Macella O’Neill has been enjoying great success with a new string of Grand Prix horses, and plans to head to the World Cup Qualifiers this fall with the fabulous new addition to the barn, Erik the Grey. She has also been campaigning Joe Montana’s incredible Irish Draught Horse stallion King of Hearts, who started in the Grand Prix classes at Tahoe with money winning finishes. She will be the jumping demonstration rider with King of Hearts at Dressage in The Wine Country, August 24 at the Santa Rosa Fairgrounds. Our whole barn is planning on attending the performance and we encourage you to be there as well!

Diamond Mountain riders had a great showed at the Carousel Summer Show in Calistoga, coached by DMS trainer Kelli Cox. Many championships were won in the Hunters, Jumpers and Eq, including Chelsea Viviani and her brand new mare Lucy, who were Champions in the Children’s Jumpers, Kali Clark on Diego, who won both over fences phases of the Carousel Equitation Classic, Amy de Kock, who finished Reserve Champion in the Pony Jumpers, and Jean Edwards, accumulating many more points for the year end awards by winning every Equitation class she rode in and finishing Champion Adult Eq rider.

Diamond Mountain riders are also enjoying riding in dressage lessons with dressage rider and trainer Liz de Kock. She teaches us two days a week and we all believe that the great foundation we are getting is improving our jumping courses.

Future plans for us include a clinic featuring Macella, the weekend of Dressage in the Wine Country, at our sister stables, Virginnie Richards’ Markwest Stables, a benefit for the Irish Draught Horse Society (contact Claudia Colo at 707-942-4075 for information); an extensive fall show schedule featuring several local shows, the Finals shows, and the Southern California World Cup Qualifiers; and a visit from Internationally famous trainer Bjorn Ikast.

Please take time to give us a call at 707-942-0719 or come visit at 1296 Diamond Mountain Road in Calistoga if you are interested in riding or showing with us, attending the clinic, looking at our great variety of sales horses, breeding to King of Hearts or High Ridge Ranch‘s famous Chaka Khan, or just hanging out at the horseshows. We would love to have you join in the fun with us!
