THE FAIR HILL INTERNATIONAL TO FEATURE EQUINE HEALTH PAVILION, SPONSORED BY COSEQUIN

FAIR HILL, MD-October 2, 2001-The Fair Hill International Festival In The
Country will feature a new Equine Health Pavilion, sponsored by Cosequin,
during the combined driving and eventing competitions at the Fair Hill
Natural Resources Area in Fair Hill, MD, October 25-28, 2001.
A variety of learning opportunities will be available for equestrian
enthusiasts of all ages. The Equine Health Pavilion, sponsored by Cosequin,
will feature educational opportunities with experts from the New Bolton
Center at The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine,
Smartpak (custom packager of daily supplements for equine feed), and
Pennfield Feed together with Kentucky Equine Research, a leading equine
nutrition, research and consultation company. Talks, demonstrations, and
autograph sessions with international stars of eventing and combined driving
will round out the opportunities in the Equine Health Pavilion.
"The Equine Health Pavilion will provide a valuable opportunity for riders,
drivers, owners, handlers, and other horse lovers to learn about the latest
developments in equine health care, products, and techniques from some of
the nation's leaders in equine medicine, nutrition and care," said Fair Hill
International Executive Director Patrick McGaughan. "We're excited about
our partnership with Cosequin and the New Bolton Center at the University of
Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine," he added, "and encourage all
Fair Hill spectators and participants to make good use of all the 'horse
sense' in the Equine Health Pavilion."
The Fair Hill International, featuring world-class equestrian competition
in the Olympic sport of eventing and the World Championship sport of
combined driving, hosts four top-ranked equestrian championships: the USET
Fall Eventing Championship CCI***, the USET Four-In-Hand Driving
Championship, the AHSA Single Horse Driving Championship and the AHSA
National Combined Driving Pony Championships (for singles, pairs and teams).
The USET Fall Eventing Championship CCI***, one of just two prestigious
three-star competitions held in the United States each year, draws Olympic
and World Championship veterans such as Olympic Gold medalists Phillip
Dutton and David O'Connor.
The USET Four-in-Hand Driving Championship, the AHSA Single Horse
Championship, and the AHSA National Combined Driving Pony Championships are
among the season's highlights for combined drivers. Last year Tucker
Johnson, Oldwick, NJ, won a record fourth straight four-in-hand title and
plans to defend his title this year.
The Fair Hill International also hosts the final leg of the Jaguar Triple
Crown of Driving, presented by Driving Essentials/Glinkowski Carriages.
Kimberly Stover of Warwick, MD, the 1999 Jaguar Triple Crown Champion, took
the lead during the first leg when she won the Advanced Singles division at
the Laurels Combined Driving Event in Unionville, PA in September. Nancy
Johnson of Lincoln, MA has since moved into first place after winning the
Advanced Singles division during the second leg of the Jaguar Triple Crown
of Driving at the Gladstone Driving Event in Gladstone, NJ. With only a few
points separating the leaders after the first two legs, the Fair Hill
International's final leg of the Jaguar Triple Crown of Driving, presented
by Driving Essentials/Glinkowski Carriages, will see fierce competition for
the Jaguar crown.
For novice equestrians, this year's Fair Hill International will also host
the United States Combined Training Association (USCTA) Area II Preliminary,
Training & Novice Horse Trials' Championships. These East Coast
Championships include dressage on Thursday, cross-country on Friday, and
show jumping on Saturday, all from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Visitors will enjoy the variety of shopping and dining opportunities at the
Fair Hill International Festival in the Country. The Country Shops feature
vendors of tack, artwork, pet needs and fine apparel for a unique
opportunity to do get a jump on holiday shopping for the animal lovers on
anyone's list. The Fair Hill Club provides a fine dining experience, while
others seeking a more casual snack or meal will enjoy Blue Marlin Catering's
pubs around the Fair Hill grounds and the classic Maryland crab-cakes.
Tickets for the Fair Hill International are available by the day, or as a
four-day pass. On Thursday and Friday, tickets are $8.00 per person;
Saturday's admission fee is $12.00; Sunday's is $10. A Four-Day Pass is
only $30 per person. Children under 12 are admitted free.
The Fair Hill International is sponsored by Cosequin, the United States
Equestrian Team, Banner Life Insurance, Bit of Britain, First Union Private
Capital Management, Glenmede Trust, Jaguar, Nawpac, Outback Performance Wear
with Gore-Tex Fabric by Outback Trading Company, Ltd., Pennfield Feeds,
