Equus-The Horse Event Expands….

This year's event saw the consolidation of this new addition to the equestrian calendar attracting over 20,000 visitors during the four days. The displays by Tim Stockdale, Blyth Tait, Kelly Marks and many others proved to be an irresistible combination yet again. 93% of visitors enjoyed it so much they said they would come back next year.

Equus is continuing to develop as a high profile exciting event, there are many new initiatives for 2003 and the new website offers the chance to register as an Equus elite member and receive free newsletters. This year Equus is supporting British Riding Clubs in their efforts to increase the numbers of members.

Riding Club talent will be seen in the Main Arena on Saturday 5th April and Sunday 6th. The winners of the quadrille championships at Olympia have been invited to show the Equus audience how they won. In addition, the Rural Riders Team of 6 Dressage will be showing what they can do. These will be alongside demonstrations and clinics from famous equestrian personalities.

The Individual Champion of the Senior Riding Test at the BRC National Championships, Emma Ross, is also the lucky winner of a dressage clinic at Equus 2003. She can be seen in the Main Arena learning tips and techniques from a top level rider.

British Riding Clubs are looking forward to a closer association with this national equestrian event, as Maggie Dyus comments 'We are constantly looking at new ways to raise the profile of British Riding Clubs and feel that an event as popular as Equus provides the perfect opportunity".

Equus will be held at ExCeL in London on 3rd -6th April 2003. Plans for next year will ensure the extensive variety and high quality standard of displays with adequate gaps allowing for extended shopping time. More horses can be seen at Equus 2003 with the installation of a second arena, to be used predominantly for horses practising and warming-up.

The event is expanding to provide even more for visitors. There will be a new country area that will include country clothing and outdoor accessories and a new 'outdoor' area will also be incorporated within the hall for horseboxes, horse walkers and other larger display items.

The new Equus website is regularly updated and visitors to the site will be informed of the latest changes to the timetable, competitions, bargains to be had at the event and new features at Equus. For further information visit www.equusevent.co.uk or call 020 7375 9298.
