Ten Top tips for booking your Riding Holiday Over the Internet

1. Finding a Site

If you do not know the name of a specific holiday center, search the web for a reputable site that contains information on many holidays. Some good sites to try are equiworld.net, ridingholidays.com, ridingtours.com, ranchamerica.co.uk.

2. Search by Destination

Most web sites offer you the opportunity to search for a holiday by destination, so have an idea of the country that you would like to visit. Your choice may relate to the type of scenery you would like to see, the climate, the type of riding that would be available and any non-riding related activities that you wish to pursue.

3. Surf the web to gain an appreciation for the regions you will holiday within.

There may be alternative activities you may want to engage in while on holiday in a given area. The web offers pages of great information on everything from historical and cultural places of interest to amusement centers, restaurants and festivals.

4. Search by Activity

If you want to enjoy or learn a specific riding activity then you can search by a keyword. For example carriage driving, trail riding or cattle ranching. This will inform you of all of the centers around the world that offer those specific activities, which you can then narrow down into a country search.

5. Identify your Groups’ Riding Skills and Experience.

This is especially relevant when you are choosing a trail-riding holiday that doesn't return to base for a number of days, or if you have children with you.

6. Identify your fitness level.

Remember you are choosing a holiday for enjoyment, and long hours in the saddle can be both painful and exhausting if you are not accustomed to it.

7. Professional Membership

If the organization is affiliated to a professional body such as the Association of British Riding Schools, the British Horse Society or the Dude Ranchers Association then you have some assurance the center has attained certain standards. If not, see if you can have some email addresses of previous visitors to get some feedback and references.

8. Creature Comforts

Identify the type of accommodation you require. Tented camps with cold showers in the middle of the bush aren't everyone's cup of tea!

9. Related Advertising.

There are often advertisements within a web site that relate to products or services that can satisfy customer needs whilst on holiday. These range from car hire, to clothing and accessories, and even if you don't purchase anything they can help make the “to do” lists for the trip.

10. Be Patient as most riding holiday destinations do not have Email or web addresses.

Many of the riding holiday centers do not have computers or email, even though they are appearing on your screen.
