Uplifting Horse-Related Book for the New Year

Haven’t we all dreamed about leaving our 9 to 5 jobs and following our life’s dream of working full-time with animals? Emily Lineberger Bridges did just that and wrote a book about the adventure! Entitled Dear Dolly, this book is filled with the trials, struggles, laughs and lessons that go with following your heart’s desire.

After a 30-year absence from the horse world, Emily took the plunge and purchased what became Summerwind Farm in Tennessee. Summerwind is dedicated to breeding the best Arabian Horses in the area, a dream that Emily had her entire life. However, as with most dreams, they come with their own share of surprises, disappointments and lessons.

Emily candidly shares the good and the bad times and does it all in the form of letters written to her first horse, Dolly. Like so many horse lovers who had the perfect horse as a child, it is easy to think that just because you got away with foolishness as a child, you actually know what you are doing! Dolly was a one of a kind horse that is often referred to in the industry as a “babysitter.” As a result, Emily grew up believing that she knew all there was to know about riding, training and handling horses. Of course, she found out the hard way, just how misinformed she was!

Dear Dolly is a must read for anyone who loves horses and dreams of someday operating their own barn. The old saying about “ignorance is bliss” was never truer than it is when as adults we decide to follow our childhood dreams! Emily has earned a Ph.D. in horsemanship in the school of hard knocks and her entire education is chronicled in Dear Dolly.

“I loved this heartwarming, true tale of a girl and her best friend…. This is a keeper book for horse lovers of all ages.” Staci Layne Wilson, author of The Horse’s Choice.

“This book is a must-read for anyone considering a back-yard breeding operation, as well as for anyone contemplating re-entry into the world of horses as an adult…”Ted Land, Arcadia, FL.

“Emily has enfolded the reader in the story, like they are right there when it happened. I could not put this book down…. “Julie A. Hurd, York, PA.
