Seniors Day pays tribute to all of the senior citizens of Riverside County by providing free admission to the horse show grounds for a host of fun activities.

The following organizations will present special programs on Seniors Day for the enjoyment of our senior visitors: Paws & Hearts Therapy Assisted Dogs; Desert Samaritans for the Elderly; Palm Desert Bicycle Club; La Quinta Healing Arts; Happy Hooker Rug Hooking; Arts & Crafts with Louise; HICAP health insurance counseling. Additionally, Tai Chi demonstrations will be offered as well as five minute massages from La Quinta Healing Arts.

Senior citizens will also have the opportunity to meet with Bob Bell, an 82 year-old Triathlete who has competed in the Ironman Triathlete competition in Hawaii. Mr. Bell is believed to be the world's oldest competitive athlete and he will be available for questions at the Palm Desert Bicycle Club booth.

Free golf carts will be provided for senior citizens so they can tour the show grounds to see the top-level show jumping competition taking place. Bleacher seating is available at all of the rings and there are numerous park benches and special tents on the grounds that overlook the competition action. To wind down from the competition, seniors will be invited to shop at the Desert Marketplace, which features more than a dozen shops offering equine-themed merchandise from tack to 14K gold jewelry.

With 3,000 stalls available, the HITS Desert Horse Park can comfortably accommodate more than 2,000 horses and 6,000 horsemen each week. Exhibitors, including former and aspiring Olympians, from Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, Europe and all regions of the U.S. will travel to Indio for the 2004 Indio Desert Circuit.
