USA Equestrian
Mosser Wins National Championship Of Eventing

Bonnie Mosser, Coatesville, Pennsylvania, was victorious in USA Equestrian's 2002 National Championship of Eventing, held April 18-21, 2002 at Foxhall Farm near Atlanta, Georgia.

Mosser entered Sunday's stadium jumping phase in third place, behind five-time Olympic veteran Bruce Davidson, Sr. in second and Heidi White of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania who held the top spot. Mosser, riding her nine-year-old English Thoroughbred gelding, Jenga (Brigadier Linden x Gledes Scallywag VII), left all rails in place as she completed the stadium jumping phase penalty free to end with a score of 51.20 penalties.

Davidson of Unionville, Pennsylvania had four penalties in the jumping phase to end the day in third place with a score of 54.41 penalties. Davidson was riding Welton Tangle (Welton Lovis x Spar Tangle) an 11-year-old English Thoroughbred gelding owned by Amy Borun DeWind, also of Unionville. White and her mount Northern Spy (All Fair x Lavender Fair VII) a nine-year-old English Thoroughbred gelding, received eight penalties to end with a score of 58.00 penalties to put her in seventh place. Amy Tryon and Woodstock (Candy's Gold x unknown) an eight-year-old Thoroughbred gelding, moved from fourth place to second after a penalty-free stadium jumping round and a score of 52.01 penalties.

This was Mosser's first three-day event win and her name will be the third inscribed on the Guy V. Henry Trophy, joining that of Tiffani Loudon, the 2000 winner, and Karen O'Connor who topped the field in 2001.
