“Vincenzo Muccioli” Challenge to the “Senator” Emile Hendrix

Tonight Emile Hendrix, riding Audi’s Finesse, won the second round in the Infostrada Grand Prix – “Vincenzo Muccioli” Challenge which closed the San Patrignano International show jumping for only one hundredth of a second. “I am really happy about this success; winning this very competition is an incredible satisfaction. On behalf of all riders, groom and technicians I must thank the community young guests for what they did. Last year and this year I have learned an important thing in San Patrignano: team work makes a dream work”.

The Dutch rider, who is also the technical advisor of this event, is one of the most experienced riders on the world scene. He had his debut in 1980 in Nations Cup and gained his first medal (bronze) at the European Championships in 1981. He became European team Champion in 1991at La Baule in France. Last year he took the Eindhoven Grand Prix and, still on Finesse, he ended forth last June in Aachen Nations Cup. Hendrix left behind respectively Willi Melliger, second in the World rankings, who had tackled the closing challenge riding one of his new horses, the chestnut Scutt. But the evening real surprise was the Argentine rider Mario Dopazo, who came third on Calwaro. The class was particularly demanding and spectacular because of the difficult course performed by Olaf Petersen, appointed course designer for the next Olympic Games in Athens. Evidence thereof the infinitesimal time lag which made him win before Melliger, the only one besides Hendrix, ending faultless even the second round.
