CHAMPION GERMAN HANOVERIAN MARE COMING TO VISTA RIDGE FARM

SPA WORCESTER a 1997 16.2H Dark Bay Modern-Type Champion Hanoverian Mare (by White Magic by Weltmeyer out of Limone by Lemon xx) is coming to Vista Ridge Farm - Hanoverians.

Worcester is an extraordinary mare that we were able to recently purchase in Germany. She received an overall 8 at her Inspection, including 9's for Swing and Elasticity and for her Head. In addition, she earned an astounding 8.39 at her Mare Performance Test, including 9's for trot and canter, and a 9 and 10 for rideability. At the breeding shows, she was the winner of her Class at 2, winner of her Class at 3, and also Mare Show Champion at 3.

This qualified her for invitation to the prestigious 5th Ratje-Niebuhr Mare Show in 2000 in Verden. This show is only held once every six years and brings the Regional Champions together. She again won her 3-year-old Class at Ratje-Niebuhr as well. An official of the Hanoverian Verband rated her as one of the top three mares in her age group in all of Germany in 2000.

Worcester's sire is WHITE MAGIC by Weltmeyer out of SPS Biene by Bolero. This young stallion died in 2000 at the age of eight. In his short career, he was ranked with the other Champion sons of Weltmeyer. He dominated his Stallion Performance Test at Adelheidsdorf in 1995, with an overall score of 140.69, with 152.19 for rideability and placed 1st of 50. In addition, he placed in three consecutive annual German national Bundeschampionships and was ridden by Holga Finken. Other progeny have done well as auction horses and were also successful at breed shows.

Worcester's dam is LIMONE by Lemon xx. Limone received a 7.05 on her Mare Performance Test and her first foal in 1994 was Ritano by Ravallo, who was licensed as a stallion in Verden in 1996.

Limone is by Lemon xx, who is a thoroughbred who stood at the Celle Stud until the age of 26. Lemon sired horses for dressage, show jumping and several world-class event horses, including the Sydney Olympics horse Little MacMuffin, and Literat who was German National Champion of young event horses. Lemon xx also sired Lemon Park and Lemon Tree, who was the Champion of the 1987 Stallion Licensing and winner in his Stallion Performance Test the next year.

Limone's dam Taiga has produced the SPS mare Sydney by Salvano and SPA Dorina by Donnerschall with a Performance Test of 7.94, who was imported to the USA. She produced two other Lemon xx foals, Laretta and Lemon's Premium, who both won suitability classes for dressage at the age of four.

Worcester was bred in March 2001 for her first foal in 2002 to CONTENDRO. Contendro is a 1997 dark brown 16.2H stallion by Contender out of HSP Bravo by Reichsgraf. This Hanoverian approved Holsteiner, with very brilliant and expressive type, won his Stallion Performance Test at Adelheidsdorf in 2000, with an overall total score of 144.70 with 131.09 in Dressage and 147.29 in Jumping. His movement is elastic with much self-carriage in the trot and canter.

Worcester will remain in Germany to have her 2002 foal and thus complete her SPS status. She will be bred back to a German stallion (Donnerhall or Hohenstein are being considered) and imported to our farm on the southern Oregon coast in 2002.

We are thrilled to be able to acquire such a high quality mare to the United States and to enhance our Masterpieces of Hanoverian Breeding Program. If you would like a picture of Worcester's winning her class at the Ratje-Niebuhr Show, just request that one be sent to you from vistaridgefarm@harborside.com .

Thanks for sharing in our enthusiasm,

Jo Ann & Dale Thomas
