Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Continues ILC Support

(Houston, TX) – The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR), long a major supporter of the International Stockmen’s Educational Foundation (ISEF) and the International Livestock Congress (ILC), renewed its support recently by providing funding to support the ISEF Student Travel Fellowship Program.

The ISEF Student Travel Fellowship Program provides travel fellowship to 25 students from the United States, Canada and internationally who are either seniors or graduate students selected on the basis of their academic achievements and involvement in the agricultural industry. They are invited to participate and interact with leaders of the global livestock industry, while also enjoying the opportunity to experience the world-famous Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The ISEF increased the number of fellowships to 25 after having awarded 20 fellowships each year since 1993.

“As most people are aware, the overriding goal of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is to provide opportunities for the development and education of young people, but at the same time, the show has also become very important to our nation in the area of international agricultural relations” said HLSR General Manager Dan Gattis. “We provide more than $8 million in funding each year to students in Texas and this is one way we can extend that generosity to other young people who are on track to become future leaders in the global livestock industry.”

Each major agricultural college or university in the United States, in addition to more than 125 agricultural schools around the world, was invited to nominate an applicant. Fellowship winners will be announced in December.
