Charity Events Highlight Winter Equestrian Festival Social Scene

WELLINGTON, FLORIDA - January 20, 2004 - The 34th annual Winter Equestrian Festival at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club show grounds in Wellington, FL, will not only feature eight weeks of topnotch competition from January 28 through March 21, but also charity events with national and international impact.

FEBRUARY 1, FIRST ANNUAL ASPCA EQUINE FUND FAMILY LUNCHEON
Kicking off the roster of charitable festivities is the First Annual ASPCA Equine Fund Family Luncheon on Sunday, February 1, starting at noon in the Special Events Pavilion at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club show grounds. Chairing the luncheon are Leslie M. Clarke, Frances G. Scaife, and William Secord. Ticket/Table prices: $250/adult; $50/child 12 and under; or $1,500 for a reserved table of six. FEBRUARY 15, DENIM & DIAMONDS
Not to be missed is the gala Denim & Diamonds: Back To The Future on February 15, starting at 6:30 pm at the South Florida Fairgrounds to benefit the United States Equestrian Team and its efforts at the upcoming 2004 Athens Olympic Games. Chairmen of the event are Mason Phelps Jr. and Beverly Lake Wilkes, with vice-chairs Janice Aron, Frances Lindner, Joanie Goodman, Norman Peslar, Mary Anne McPhail, John Goodman, and Tim Gannon. FEBRUARY 29, HANLEY-HAZELDEN FAMILY LUNCHEON
This annual event continues to build awareness and support for the Hanley-Hazeldon Patient Aid Life Saver Fund. The luncheon will be held at noon in the Special Events Pavilion at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club show grounds. MARCH 8, EQUUS MEDAL DINNER
To benefit the Wellington Equestrian Alliance, the Equus Medal Dinner will be held in the elegant Jockey Club at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club show grounds, starting at 7 pm. MARCH 12, BREAST CANCER RESEARCH FUNDRAISER
Held at the Winter Equestrian Festival for the first time, this fundraiser benefits the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Cocktails and dinner start at 6:30 pm in the Special Events Pavilion at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club show grounds, chaired by Mary Ross and Joli Burrell. Featured this evening is the Samsung Nations' Cup show jumping competition and between rounds, a six-horse dressage exhibition titled The Rock and Roll Musical Quadrille presented by Play For T.I.M.E. and International Polo Club. 2004 WINTER EQUESTRIAN FESTIVAL
Show days for the 2004 Winter Equestrian Festival are Wednesday through Sunday. Gates open at 8:00 am. Ticket Prices: Wednesdays are free to everyone; Children 12 and under are admitted free every day; Young Adults 13 to 18 and Seniors are $5 on Thursday through Sunday; Adults are $5 on Thursday and Friday, $10 on Saturday, and $15 on Sunday. The Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club is located on Pierson Road off South Shore Boulevard.
