USET Announces Show Jumping Selectors for 2002 World Equestrian Games Selection Trials

Gladstone, New Jersey—February 19, 2002—The United States Equestrian Team (USET) has announced the selectors for the Show Jumping selection process for the 2002 World Equestrian Games (WEG).

The Selectors for the WEG show jumping selection process are 1996 Olympic course designer Linda Allen of Salinas, CA; veteran Grand Prix rider Michael Endicott of Rancho Santa Fe, CA; 1976 Olympic veteran Dennis Murphy of Vandiver, AL; 1984 Olympic team Gold Medalist Melanie Smith Taylor of Memphis, TN; and two-time Olympian Lisa Jacquin of Wayne, PA.

The alternate selectors are 1994 WEG veteran Patty Stovel of Far Hills, NJ; 1980 Olympian Terry Rudd of Malvern, PA; and 1994 WEG veteran Susie Hutchison of Sunland, CA, who was 1992 American Grandprix Association Rider of the Year.

The selectors will oversee the selection process including the possible inclusion of one subjectively-chosen member to the four-horse team that will compete at the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain in September.

Horse-and-rider combinations wishing to compete in Show Jumping Selection Trials for the 2002 World Equestrian Games must qualify by achieving a performance standard in one or more USET and/or Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) qualifying classes. Information about the qualifiers is available on the USET website at www.uset.org or you may contact the USET at (908) 234-1251.

The United States Equestrian Team is a non-profit organization that selects, trains, equips and finances equestrians of the highest possible standard to represent our country in major international competition, including the Olympic Games and the World Championships. To accomplish this, the USET seeks out and nurtures the development of talented athletes - riders, drivers and horses - and provides the support and guidance they need to help them attain their fullest potential.
