Analysis: The race, run on slow going, was led at first by Special Dancer, then by Dignify, who was surpassed in the last furlong and a half by Polar Charge, then by TIMI and, just at the winning post, also by German horse Well Minded.
Timi, who was supposed to suffer the distance, is back from the 2nd place in Premio Regina Elena (Italian One Thousand Guineas). Moreover, in 1999 she won the Pr. Mantovani, listed and was second in Criterium Femminile, listed.
Timi belongs to a female line (fam. 8i) introduced into Italy in 1970 by Razza del Terminillo (then Azienda Agricola Rosati Colarieti) with Temara (4th mother of Timi), whose previous owner was Madame Leon Volterra in France.
Timi's mother, Timiram, reported 6 victories at 2 to 4 years, the best of them being Pr. Alberto Zanoletti di Rozzano, Restricted. The proceeding mare, Targan, by Busted, is unraced, while the third mother, Tilsit, by Galivanter, reported 3 victories at 2 to 3 years, among which are Pr. Aurora, listed, and fourth place in Criterium di Roma, Gr.3, all at the age of two.
Timi, medium size and leggy, is inbred 4x5 on brilliant chief de race Court Martial.
From fathers just mentioned, employed for the development of female line, is easy to infer that the breeder, Rosati Colarieti family, alternated stout and classic sires (Alzao, Busted) to others of clear brilliant and precocious characteristics (Runnett, Galivanter). The latter left in suspense on Timi stamina, but the filly has been resolutely conducted to the winning post by one of the best Italian jockeys, Mirco Demuro.
Aptitudinal dosage, according to Varola (dosage diagram: 44/30/60,5/69,5/44; at seven groups: 15/29/30/60/37,5/32/44; Index of Consistency -I.C.- of 4,63) well underlines the breeder's way of proceeding because points out a great number of brilliant chiefs de race (44, first number of five group diagram) and a rich equipment of professional chiefs de race (44 names, last number). With Timi's victory remains still in evidence the male line of Northern Dancer, from whom get out 13 of 19 fillies declared in the field (equal to a big 68,4%).
