The British Horse Society British Horse Society appoints Assistant chief executive

The British Horse Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Josephine Jenkins as assistant chief executive with effect from Monday, 1 September.

Josephine joins the Society from Goldman Sachs International where she had worked her way up to executive director working in trading operations, thus bringing high-level commercial and financial skills to the Society at a time of expansion. As well as deputising for chief executive Kay Driver, Josephine is tasked with increasing membership, improving equestrian tourism through better off-road access and formulating strategy on the BHS' overseas policy.

A leisure rider in her spare time, 35-year-old Josephine is looking forward to having her own horse again now that she has moved from London to Warwickshire. Her family are all involved with horses and on taking up the reins again, following a break from riding after university, Josephine obtained BHS Stage 3 (Care) and PTT qualifications.

Following her arrival at the BHS Josephine said, "A desire to live in a rural area, combined with renewed interest in riding led me to a career change and I am delighted to be working for the BHS. The role presents a tremendous challenge and I am looking forward to meeting members and volunteers in the near future, and to help fulfil the Society's remit, 'working for every horse and rider'."
