FEI VICE PRESIDENT BECOMES JAPANESE OLYMPIC COMMITTEE PRESIDENT

USA Equestrian (formerly AHSA) announced today that Prince Tsunekazu Takeda
is to be named president of the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) on October
24, 2001. Takeda, 53, will be the youngest president in the history of the
JOC, taking over from Yushiro Yagi, who died last month. Takeda is a vice
president of both the FEI and Japanese national equestrian federation. He
also served as sports director for the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano.

Takeda's father, Prince Tsuneyoshi Takeda, served as JOC president and was a
member of the IOC. The younger prince competed in the 1972 and 1976 Olympic
Games.

USA Equestrian Inc., as the National Equestrian Federation of the U.S., is the regulatory body for the Olympic and World Championship sports of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, show jumping, and vaulting, as well as 19 other breeds and disciplines of equestrian competition. As the country's largest multi-breed organization, the Federation has over 77,000 members and recognizes more than 2,800 competitions nationwide each year. It governs all aspects of competition, including educating and licensing all judges, stewards, and technical delegates who officiate at these shows.
